How do I become a member of Rose Hill?
We must be doing something right because we constantly have visitors who want to place membership with us. We do hope you'll take such a decision seriously because we certainly do. You will find lots of benefits and blessings in being a member at Rose Hill, but you'll also be asked to be involved in the fellowship and work of the congregation. When you're ready to make that commitment, talk with one of the ministers or elders and let them know. You'll be asked to meet briefly with the elders so they can learn more about you and your spiritual experience. An announcement will then be made (most likely the following Sunday morning), and you will be gladly welcomed into our Forever Family of believers.
What opportunities are there for fellowship?
While many of our activities are informal and unplanned, we have several activities that are scheduled throughout the year for our family. Every member is part of a smaller fellowship group that meets frequently for Sunday potluck lunches and other events. Many gather on a Friday evening every month or so to eat together and spend a couple of hours in fellowship and singing. Several of our members participate in a slow-pitch softball league, and many go camping together several times a year. We also have an annual Family Fun Day. Most often on a Saturday during the fall, this special day typically includes a cookout and lots of games and activities, but it is especially a day devoted to spending quality time as a church family.
What do you have to offer to teens?
Fusion Student Ministry is composed of youth from grades 6-12. The word fusion simply means to join two or more things together, or to connect them together. Fusion Student Ministry seeks to be about connecting students, not only with God, but with their friends, family, and leaders. Everything we do is intended to help guide their steps in following Jesus and building a deeper relationship with God. We are able to accomplish these things through service to others, fellowship, Bible study, small group prayer time, etc. We believe we have the greatest opportunity in the world to help students discover who God intended them to be.
What’s available for my kids?
Children are very important at Rose Hill (and we have a lot of them). For the littlest ones, we have a nursery that is extra-clean and extra-fun. And if you choose to leave your children in the nursery during the worship service, you can be confident that they will be cared for by very loving and capable attendants. From the time they are babies, children attend great Bible classes. In September 2017, we began an exciting new program called Bible Discovery Zone. Children from age 4 through 5th grade rotate through 6 different rooms (Creation Station, Lord's Way Cafe, Bible Museum, etc.) on both Sundays and Wednesdays to help them learn Bible stories and lessons in a fun and memorable way. On Sunday evenings, we further minister to children through Leadership Training, a special program that provides a worship and learning experience designed specifically for a younger audience.
What is the worship service like?
It usually lasts about an hour. Someone will welcome everyone and make a few announcements. We'll sing several songs of praise and worship. Similar to that of the early church, the singing in our worship to the Lord is a cappella (vocal only). There is nothing to compare to the sound of God's people joining together in a beautiful harmony of voices. We'll have a Scripture reading followed by prayer. Every Sunday we remember our Savior and His sacrifice through partaking of the Lord's Supper. We thank God for our blessings and joyously give back to Him. (You are welcome to participate in communion and in the contribution, but please don't feel obligated.) Our minister will share a Bible-based lesson that is intended to uplift and encourage all of us to walk closer to the Lord. We'll close with a prayer, followed by lots of friendly people hugging and talking.
What can I expect when I visit Rose Hill?
Whether you've attended church your whole life or never stepped foot in one before, we know it's not easy visiting a church for the first time. That's why we go out of our way to make sure you feel welcome and comfortable during your visit. In fact, when you first step into our foyer, you'll see a Visitor Welcome Center and people who will greet you and help you in any way they can. You'll be given a newsletter and a welcome packet that tells you a little more about us. When the Bible class and/or worship service begins, you won't be called out to stand or speak during the assembly. As we worship together, feel free to join in or just listen. And what kind of people will you find at Rose Hill? All kinds. We have young and old, single and married, those with and without children, and people of various races and ethnic backgrounds. Finally, we're very much a come-as-you-are church. Some come dressed in business suits and dresses, while others wear jeans and t-shirts.
